Kevin Durant had plenty of hype leading up to the 2007 NBA Draft, spurred on by his co-MVP honors at the 2006 All-American Game and a brief stint at the University of Texas (where he earned the Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year Award). He was drafted No. 2 overall by the Seattle Supersonics in 2007, and then he (and the team) relocated to Oklahoma City the following season.
KD now plays for the Golden State Warriors and has amassed a ton of honors during his career.
KD on the Court
Kevin Durant got off on the right foot in Seattle, earning the 2007-08 Rookie of the Year honors fresh out of the gate – the first Supersonics player to do so. He also made the All-Rookie team that year. Notably, he earned both of these honors despite the Sonics’ dismal season, where the team went a franchise-worst 20-62 (which was an 11-game decline over the prior season).
His abilities continued to climb as the team relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder. Though their first season in Oklahoma City was similar to the previous season in Seattle, the team began reaching the postseason on a fairly regular basis by 2010.
Not coincidentally, Durant also began his perennial All-Star appearances in the 2009-10 season. He’s now been selected to the game nine seasons in a row, and nabbed the All-Star MVP honors in 2012. Over the course of his career, he’s appeared on the All-NBA team seven times.

Durant helped the Thunder reach the Finals in the 2011-12 postseason but fell short of the championship, ultimately falling to the Miami Heat (1-4).
Durant has also been the NBA scoring champ four times – 2009-10 with an average of 30.1 points per game, 2010-11 with 27.7, 2011-2012 with 28.0, and 2013-14 with 32. He was also selected as the league MVP in 2014, joining Wilt Chamberlain, George Gervin, and Michael Jordan as the only players in NBA history to nab the MVP after capturing the scoring title four times out of five seasons.
After Durant left Oklahoma City and signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2016, he added another pretty impressive trophy to his case: an NBA Finals win in 2016-17 and the title of Finals MVP to boot.
In addition to these scads of NBA accolades, Durant also has a couple of Olympic gold medals to his name. As part of Team USA, he won the gold medal in the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2016 Olympic Games.
