Nike and each of the 30 NBA teams designed an in-game uniform that reflects the relationship between the home team and their fans. Prince’s Minnesota Timberwolves
This year, the Timberwolves City Edition uniform honors the legacy of Prince. The Wolves jersey commemorates Prince’s passion for the game of basketball and his unmatched contributions to the music of Minnesota and beyond. You’ll see references to the music legend all over the jersey. On the right shoulder, you’ll see this pattern that pays tribute to the infamous jacket Prince wore while performing, “Purple Rain”. The concept ties together with this unmistakable Prince Era font and his signature Purple color.
Milwaukee Bucks MECCA
This year’s Bucks City Edition uniform pays tribute to the legendary teams of Milwaukee’s history. You’ll recognize the bold colors synonymous with the MECCA Era of Bucks Basketball. The bright color blocking over this year’s city edition jersey mimics those popular during the height of Milwaukee basketball- from the late ’70s through the mid-’80s.
Boston Celtics Green & Yellow
Also paying homage to dominant seasons past? The Boston Celtics. As the winningest franchise in NBA history, both Nike and the team decided to honor Celtics stars through classic design elements on this year’s jersey. The 2018 Celtics City Edition jersey features this standout Boston logo across the chest and green and yellow detailing on the Boston wordmark, number, and trim. All of these elements are inspired by the white warm-up jackets worn by the likes of legends Larry Bird, Bill Russell, and Bob Cousy.
Notorious Brooklyn Nets
Finally, check out the stellar style of this year’s Brooklyn Nets City Edition jersey. The uniform’s concept is inspired by rapper and Brooklyn icon, Notorious B.I.G. and highlights the diversity of the New York neighborhood. Nike designed this multicolored “Brooklyn Camo” print that’s featured along the neck and arm trim, as well as down the side of the jersey. The pattern represents the cultural diversity in Brooklyn, which is home to people of all races, religions, and ethnicities, who all have one thing in common- the signature swagger of the Brooklyn borough.
